If you thought LeBron James was influential then meet world welterweight boxing champ Manny Pacquiao who seems to run the Phillipines. He has a seat in the Phillipine House of Representatives, and is already head coach of the Kia Sorentos, an upcoming expansion team which is set to join the Philippine Basketball League this season.

Funnily enough the team he coaches is the team which drafted him in the first round of the Philippine Basketball Association Draft, Sports Illustrated reported. The Pacman always dreamed of playing basketball, but many have criticised the move saying he can’t juggle both commitments. Especially with his upcoming bout against undefeated WBO Light Welterweight champion, Chris Algieri on Nov 22 in Macau. But Pacquio has brushed aside the critics and said

It will serve as a challenge for me, they do not know what they are saying, before i have also experienced this before i started boxing, but I proved them wrong”

With Pacquio a good friend of fellow Filipino and Miami Heat coach, Erik Spoelstra, you can be certain Manny will be getting pointers from him as many people will be following his progress closely for the next few months.
